Any update on the rotary attachment?

Anybody know if the automatic jig changes is available in the US anytime soon? Why does Japan never send the US the cool stuff like that.

Hi indyworx,

Still no word on the rotary unit I'm afraid.
The idea is pretty simple for an attachment I think-but I.P. can be an obstacle :x You could always make/develop one!?

As for the auto jig feeder this is something that has been developed by a 3rd party in Japan, we are awaiting confirmation on cost and availability etc.

I can't imagine it's going to be cheap though-it looks like a serious bit of kit!

From an engineer's point of view the sausage roller type of rotary unit can't be really precise as there are lots of variables that cause slipping and skipping in rotation of the item. Also, You can only use a few nozzles for jetting as the distance difference from the head to the item is too variable to have any kind of expected precision. It's not that much of a calculation issue, this can be corrected but the ink drop hitting the surface from different angles behaves different on different surfaces, causing bleeding and smudging and with that - colour misregistration. So, if the customers are willing to accept the quality difference, it's ok. Now, what I don't like, would be the partial nozzles jetting which may result in ink curing in other nozzles (which are not in use).

So, the sausage roller unit is only good for sausage-shaped items, anything less than an ideal cylinder won't work. You need a real rotary attachment for that, such as the ones found in Roland modeling machines but using those would make the printer much bigger for fitting purposes which challenge mechanical precision which requires more expensive technology and higher price tag.

Hello everyone.

In our company PRINTECH Ltd, located in Slovenia, Europe, we have developed attachment for rotary print on Roland LEF-20. Print is magnificent. You can print white and colors at the same time. Best part is that you can print in addition to the oval shapes that are not symmetrical on both sides. We print 2 water bottles at the same time in 3minutes at high speed. This means that it is the fastest printing in the rotation.

The result you can see at this link:

We will start selling the rotary attachment when the Fespa 2015 in Cologne, Germany ends. Probably we will produce limited edition.
