I just purchased a used Roland SP-300i...blade suggestions?

Post by Goggles Paizanno » Sat Jul 26, 2014 5:44 pm

Hello all,
This is my first post here on the Roland Forum...and also my first wide format printer.

I am awaiting the arrival of the printer (SP-300i) and am looking at buying replacement blades and blade holder. I see a variety of options. I will be creating vinyl stickers and labels mostly, but will also be doing heat transfer designs to begin with.

I see inexpensive ones on eBay, but what's the catch? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-holder-15-pc- ... 2592c3b622

Any advice and direction would be most appreciated. Thx

Welcome.

There's just one catch: you'll be replacing the cheap blades/holders often and will be experiencing blade breakdowns in the middle of jobs.

Sure, the OEM holder and blades are more expensive but as they last several times more you'll be having smoother experience with just regular maintenance: removing dust from the flute and applying a drop of machine oil on the cone of the blade every time you replace it.
