BN-20

Post by weprint4u » Tue Feb 03, 2015 9:06 am

Looking at a BN-20 since the white ink became available! What are your reviews worth the money?

I will be using the printer for t-shirt application and printing on BOPP plastic for packaging without corona applied, matte and gloss finishes. Is this the right printer for me?

The BN-20 is perfectly capable of doing this in small runs.

Due to it's size it is not suitable for long runs but is great for one offs.

So long as the material is coated and ready for digital/eco-solvent ink then it is perfectly fine to print on.

The film being BOPP isnt listed on the specs or the Roland Website, only PET? So getting your expert opinion this will work but probably not under warrenty if there is an issue with the machine?

Unless the BOPP plastic is coated for solvent printing you are unlikely to get acceptable results.

Always worth testing the materials as we have had some surprising results! We'd be happy to print some samples for you on the BN-20 is you would like to either come for a demonstration or send some sample media to us? Feel free to let me know what works for you and we will be happy to help.

Hello,

Sorry for crashing this post: I'm very new to this forum and to the the industry as well. @weprint4u Did you get the BN-20 and how do you feel about it??

I'am also looking into a BN20 for tshirts application as well as decals, stickers but specially for baseball and basketball jerseys. (Team logos, Names, Numbers) My question to experts is how cost effective are these printers?

I'am currently working on a 300 order of tshirts. I'am outsourcing the transfers and the company is charging me $9.23(USD) per 13" x 19" sheets and they can only fit 6 images (3.5x3.5 left chest) Is this price normal?

Please help

Thank you,
Jose

Hi Jose,

It's a rather simple calculation (prices of related type of media):

1 square meter of Siser Colorprint or similar costs $13
ink coverage for the same area is $2 avg

13"x19" is 15% of 1 sqm
15% of $15 = $2.25

This is without the cost of transfer sheet which is avg $3 extra per sqm ($0.45 per your sheet size)

Total cost of a printed sticker sheet of 13"x19" with the transfer sheet: $2.70

But: having your own printer you can produce the stickers from a roll, saving media. Cut sheet is an expensive way.

I am looking for a startup print solution for vinyl stickers and Tshirts.

Can B20 print those including a 200 GSM glossy paper for say paper crafts?

Is the printer inkjet based or laser? I have read in forums inkjet based do not survive for long out door and fade away.

Where are the roland b20 printer distributers in India?
