metaza engraver

Post by jimmyjames » Tue Sep 16, 2014 2:53 pm

hi i just wondered if i was to buy a metaza engraver and i wanted to silver plate or gold plate an item before i engrave it. Is this possible?
Im sure in depends on how good the plating has be done beforehand. But as i understand it impact engraver doesn't cut into the metal they effectively sandblast them, which might make a difference. I just wondered if there was anyone doing this?

thanks

It does pecking, not "sandblasting". Sandblasting usually hits some material lose form the surface, effectively filing it down a bit. Pecking just makes a V-shaped marks into the surface.
